DARK GAIA'S PROFILE

I develop games and I write. I have a Bachelor of Arts in creative writing and journalism. I like writing speculative fiction, horror and literary fiction, sometimes all blended together. You can find elements of my writing in my games, because I consider my games to be stories just that happen to have gameplay.

I post updates on my Facebook and Twitter:

But what I'm saying is that our personal perception of quality may not be the perfect indicator of a game's worthiness. Chrono Trigger may be bad, there are some people who played it and liked it.

You are correct, floating red cube with a monacle and sinister moustache.

And even so, there will always be some who will not like the games that are apparently supposed to be good. Legendary Legend is an example here - being a featured game implies that it's good, but look at all the debate about it. Some like it, some don't. I personally haven't played it so I can't judge, but every game will win some and lose some.

Some people will come to RMN, upload their crappy game and never touch anyone else's game. Some will come to play Beautiful Escape, some will come to play Legendary Legend and some will come to play The New Disciples...

At least by having these games on RMN, people are free to choose what they don't want to play. If we started deleting games based on everyone's personal standards, it would only escalate and soon there'd be only Hero's Realm and Alter Aila left on here.

Well, whether or not we agree with how certain members of the community make their games these days (I indeed used Koduki gogglehead in my game, though in my defense, back in late 2007 when I started Legionwood there were hardly any VX games, let alone gogglehead ones) I do believe that the system with regards to allowing submissions should be made a bit tighter. Perhaps instead of one staff member approving a game, the collective staff should have to approve it before it becomes added to the site?

Of course, that said, it isn't quite an easy thing to say that games like 7 Dragons shouldn't be let in. Sure, the game may not look like much, but to a new user, it probably represents a lot of effort on their part. I don't think it's a good idea to reject games by new users purely for being noobish. This could cause people to say that RMN is elitist (more than they already do) so it's a fine balance between denying games that are just obviously shit and denying games that are shit but have a modicum of effort put into them. I mean, the games I make aren't exactly stellar, but I do work hard on them and if they were denied despite the years of effort I put in, it would pretty much end any continued interest I have in RMing then and there.

Same for games using RTP and rips. Rips and RTP don't determine the overall quality of the game. Just look at Balmung and Hero's Realm.

Joke games, on the other hand...

P.S If such a thing were possible, I would download a car.

EDIT: As for Craze saying that we can suggest games to be removed... Well, there are certainly some games on here that I don't agree with, but who am I to judge their worthiness here? That is the staff's job.

Let's Try - Season 3

How is that egotistic? I admitted that it needed a going over in some places. If I'm egotistic to admit I enjoyed watching someone get scared of my game, then yes, I am egotistical.

Project Baoh (Working Title)

It did? Hmm, I actually didn't notice that. I never made my own class; knowing how I balance things, it would probably have failed, so I didn't dare touch that option.

Project Baoh (Working Title)

This is the second project I've ever seen that uses the KGC augment system. The first was mine. It isn't a very common system, so if you've balanced it correctly, kudos to you.
